Sue's European
Journal
5/12/04 Greetings to you, friends! I hope this latest "journal entry" of sorts finds you well. Life has been very good to me lately, and so has my Muse. Thanks to the encouragement of friends and general life experiences, I have written a score of new songs (yeah, ok, pun intended). Those who have heard these fresh tunes have provided much positive feedback, which thrills me to no end. Consequently, I am toying with the prospect of getting back into Rob Gal's "Snack & Shack" for yet another CD... pending my financial situation (oy!). We shall see, and time shall reveal... But enough about me--what's new with YOU? Why not drop me a line sometime? Sure, travelling around Europe is loads of fun, but I MISS YOU and would welcome an email from you with open arms! It's true, I would give it a big internet hug. And
for those of you awaiting my return to the States with bated breath,
well, shoot! Thanks! And I will be back there at some point in August.
Alayne has been busy booking gigs for the Fall, so I hope to play
at a venue near you in the not-so-distant future. Stay tuned (ok,
another bad and uncreative pun) for those gig
updates!!! And, as the Beatles said upon their arrival to
the U.S., "Buy more records." Or, in this case, CDs (click here
to order). And tell two friends. Then they'll tell two friends,
and so on, and so on, and so on... And for now, Auf Wiederhoeren! ~peace, sue
1/23/04 Hello, Friends! Greetings from Somewhereville, Europe! I have been here since August, touring around and having a blast. Thus far, I have sojourned to Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. Things sure are different here than in the U.S. And while I miss the States sometimes, I have to admit that I am generally just appreciating this experience and soaking up all that it has to offer. In the next few weeks I head to Luxembourg, Belgium, Amsterdam and the Netherlands-woo, woo, woo! After that, I will scoot back down to Germany for a bit, and then head West to France. Let me know if you plan on being in Europe sometime soon, and maybe we can connect at a gig somewhere! Also, Alayne has been busy as usual, busting a proverbial move on the ol' website! Check it out-- www.suewitty.com The latest CD, Lapis Lazuli, can now be heard on radio stations throughout the U.S. Andyep, you got itacross the globe. How exciting!! It's all posted on the website. Finally, my Muse has been good to me latelyreally good. I have written a score of new tunes, and eagerly anticipate my return to Atlanta in order to head back into the studio and begin working on my 5th CD. So stay tuned! (hahahano pun intended. Well, ok, maybe it was...) As always, please feel free to drop me a line and let me know what is new in your world! Lots of love and peace, sue witty
11/28/30 Loving greetings to you in this holiday season! I took a brief respite from the touring in order to prepare a thanksgiving meal for my friends here in Germany. This was the first time I have ever cooked a turkey, so I was rather nervous! But two friends of mine (one German, one Taiwanese) helped me out and the turkeys turned out GREAT! Wow, there is nothing like good friends. I introduced the meal by providing some background history about the holiday, to which everyone applauded (there were about 25 people at the gathering). It fascinates me the way our histories overlap and are intertwined--perhaps cliche at this point, but it really is a small world after all. So now I am hitting the road again. I have to get busy and "break in" these new tunes so they will be good and worn by the time the recording sessions come along next fall! So please stay tuned on my wanderings and ramblings here in Europe. And, as always, feel free to drop me a line if you ever get the urge! switty@learnlink.emory.edu peace, sue ******************************************************************* 11/15/03 Liebe Grüße aus Göttingen! Loving greetings to you from Germany! Things have been going really well here! Last weekend I stormed the gorgeous town of München (also known as Münich). Thanks to all of you who were at those gigs. I really am feeling right at home here in Germany... which could be because I have German ancestry, or it could just be because the people are so warm & friendly. Whatever the cause, the effect is heart-warming! But I do miss the states. I have been working dilligently on new material, and hope to find the ways and means to get back into the studio when I return to Atlanta next August. I like to believe that when something is a priority, then it will happen. In the meantime please know that I would love to hear from you! Feel free to drop me a line via email: switty@learnlink.emory.edu . Much peace and many blessings to you! sue ******************************************************************** 10/23/03 Greetings, Friends! Well, Germany is certainly chillin' these days. brrrrrr. Where's my winter jacket?!? But things are certainly warming up on the music scene here. Alayne and I hit Köln last weekend and rocked the whole town. It was awesome, and I wish you all could have been here to join us. There are so many wonderful artists in Köln (also spelled "Cologne")--musical, visual, theatrical, etc. I was singing the blues when the time came for us to pack up our gear and move on. I miss you all immensely. I miss the States. I am focusing diligently on writing new material while I am here in Europe, and hope to have a new CD underway when I return home. So stay tuned. And thanks always for your love and support. peace, sue ********************************************************************* 9/23/03 Greetings, Friends Family and Loved Ones! I hope this email finds you well. Things have been grand here in Germany so far. Not only have I been attempting to soak up the language and culture while studying at a Goethe Institut here in Freiburg--I have also seized every opportunity to travel the surrounding area (namely, the Schwartzwald). It has indeed been exciting, but alas, the time has come to move on. Sooooo, without any further ado, here is my new address for the next 10 months: sue
witty Please write WHENEVER the mood strikes you! I would love to hear from you. If you are interested in learning where Göttingen is, it is about 2 hours northeast of Frankfurt (by fast train), probably half an hour south of Hannover, and maybe 2 and a half hours west of Berlin. Let me know if you want to come visit!! I hope all is well with you! peace, sue ********************************************************************* 9/8/03 Greetings from Germany, Friends! I just want to write you a heart-felt "thank you" for your amazingly overwhelming response to my request that you explore www.cdbaby.com as a means of obtaining my latest CD. You are all incredibly wonderful!! Sadly, in spite of your best efforts, I still did not "make the cut" and thus will not have a song featured on the sampler. "Wie shade," as they say here, "aber kein Problem" (TRANSLATION: pity--but no prob, Bob!). The top sellers were bands who managed to move around 500 CDs... (heilige Kuh!) In other news, I am eagerly anticipating moving from the breath-taking Schwartzwald valley of Freiburg im Breisgau up to the scenic terrain of Göttingen. I am also locating venues in which to play throughout Germany, in addition to the commonplace "street busking" (no, no, no! not "streaking"! no nudity here!!)--ie, working the street corners... no, wait! i mean... ah, whatever. Anyway, it's all good. And I hope it is all good with YOUR soul too. Please feel free to drop me a line and let me know! switty@learnlink.emory.edu .. Oh, and one last thing-- I am still attempting to coerce Atlanta's PASTE Magazine to include one of my latest songs one of their compilation CDs. Perhaps you can help me with that? It wouldn't hurt if you want to drop them a hint or suggestion via email. I believe their website address is: www.pastemagazine.com . Thank you again for everything. May God bless and keep you always, sue ****************************************************************** 8/15/03 Greetings, Friends! I need to write to you once more to express my immense gratitude! Your response to my interest in being on a www.cdbaby.com sampler was overwhelming--to the point that CD Baby sold out of stock on my CDs! That really warms my heart, and I cannot thank you enough. For those of you who have not yet checked out www.cdbaby.com , give it a whirl! it is an amazing site. If you type in my name, too, you will be able to read reviews of my latest CD, "Lapis Lazuli." And if you haven't gotten a copy yet, no sweat! The competition to be included on the sampler runs through the end of August, so you still have a couple of weeks. Thank you all again! I hope all is going well with you! Feel free to drop me a line anytime, regarding the CDs or possible venues at which to play, or just to say hi! switty@learnlink.emory.edu Until next time! peace, sue
