Smudged
Please excuse me
if my social skills are lacking--
My heart is
swollen and sunken in my chest.
It's a boulder
I've been pushing for my lost love.
I swear I always
try my best.
Let's not let first
impressions dictate eternity
'Cause I can't judge you, and I don't like to be judged.
The world is not a courtroom,
I can't afford a lawyer,
And my view of life tends to be smudged.
If I asked you just
to stay awhile,
I wonder if
you would understand.
I don't speak
too well with words--
Words are like
groping my way through the dark with bare hands.
But if I asked
you just to stay awhile,
What I mean
is that I love what I know of who you are.
Decode the
message I am trying to send by listening with your heart.
Please forgive me
if I seem to be distracted,
But your smile flashed lightening, lighting up the new moon night sky,
Where darkness had prevailed, and I've hailed it with my own remorse
Until you struck me dumb and blinded my weary eyes.
Let's not let this
moment distort the truth,
'Cause I never
know whether to believe what I see.
My vision has
failed me so many times before,
Condemning
me to push this boulder for eternity.
But if I asked you
just to stay awhile, I wonder if you would understand.
I know I don't
speak too well with words--
Words are my
worst enemy, holding me captive in my own land.
But if I asked
you just to stay awhile,
What I mean
is that I love what I know so far of who you are.
Decode the
message I am trying to send by listening with your heart.
Listen to me
with your heart.
